Competition law

Our competition law practice provides clients with integrated, responsive and solution focused advice across the full spectrum of competition and antitrust issues, including merger clearance and authorisations, regulatory investigations, strategic competition law advice, and competition compliance.

Compliance with competition and antitrust laws is increasingly complex and demanding of cross-jurisdiction expertise. We are a practice with truly global reach and capability, with extensive experience with respect to issues arising under the competition and antitrust laws of jurisdictions across the globe.

Merger control

We have extensive experience advising on competition issues arising from complex transactions which require the coordination of merger control filings in multiple jurisdictions. We offer our clients an integrated solution across the merger control process, from jurisdictional analysis to competition effects assessment, notification preparation and coordination, engagement with authorities and remedy negotiation.

Competition and regulatory investigations

Our competition team regularly advises corporates on regulatory investigations by competition authorities and other regulatory agencies. We provide practical competition analysis and strategic advice to guide clients through the investigation process and our lawyers, who include former members of competition authorities, are experienced in negotiating with authorities to achieve effective outcomes.

Competition compliance programmes

We assist clients with the implementation of effective competition compliance policies, manuals and guidelines, and also conduct assessments of compliance risks through audits of commercial agreements, pricing policies, non-compete arrangements and business models. Our team frequently provides our clients and their senior management with effective training workshops on competition compliance and preparation for investigations through dawn raid training.

Illustrative experience:

  • Advising on the formation of a joint venture in the shipping industry aimed at the creation of a blockchain-assisted data platform, including advice on pre-formation competition issues and the assessment and coordination of global merger control filings.
