Ajit’s practice covers the whole spectrum of competition law matters. He regularly acts for clients on multijurisdictional cartel investigations, abuse of dominance issues, merger control on large cross-border transactions, private actions for damages, state aid as well as complex compliance and advisory matters (including the interface between competition and IP law). He has an in-depth working knowledge of multiple competition law regimes in Asia and Europe, including Hong Kong, China, the EU, the UK, and various South East Asian jurisdictions (such as Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam).
Ajit has also gained an unparalleled insight into the workings of a regulator having recently been a Case Manager at the Hong Kong Competition Commission. In this role, he brought the first abuse of dominance case in Hong Kong against a multinational company and completed the first voluntary commitments process and platforms case in Hong Kong, which involved three online travel agents.
Ajit previously worked at two different international law firms in London, Brussels and Asia for a multitude of different clients. He has particular expertise in acting for listed multinational companies in the TMT, life sciences, energy and financial services spheres.
Ajit holds a First Class Bachelor of Laws from Queen Mary, University of London and completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London. He is admitted to practice in England & Wales.
