Nai is a Counsel in the banking and finance team of Tiang and Partners with more than 10 years of experience advising on a variety of banking transactions. He has a particular focus on aviation and asset finance (including cross-border and domestic structured finance transactions). Nai has worked on a broad range of aviation deals including portfolio acquisition and divestments via a variety of structures in multiple jurisdictions. Nai’s experience includes acting for funds and their investors, lessors, financiers, owners, purchasers, arrangers and borrowers.

Prior to joining Tiang & Partners Nai worked at the Sydney and Hong Kong offices of King & Wood Mallesons.

Nai is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Hong Kong and is admitted to practise in New South Wales (Australia).

  • Acting for a PRC lessor as transaction counsel on the refinancing of one A380 aircraft on lease to Emirates.
  • Acting for a PRC lessor as transaction counsel on the refinancing of two 737-800 aircraft on lease to Lion Air.
  • Acting as transaction and drafting counsel for senior and junior lenders on a six aircraft loan note facility for an Australian airline.
  • Acting for an aviation fund in respect of their portfolio purchase, financing, leasing and novations of leases of Boeing and Airbus aircraft on lease to airlines in various jurisdictions, including China, Taiwan, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Australia and Indonesia.
  • Acting for the US EXIM and the ECAs as Australian counsel on export credit supported aviation financing transactions to Qantas and Virgin.
  • Acting for various corporates and financiers in receivables financing and representing corporates and financiers on covenant resets, restructuring and insolvency.
  • Acting for the sub-participants in the restructuring of a bridge French tax lease transaction that won Airfinance Journal’s Global Restructuring Deal of the Year for 2018.
  • Acting for Comsys on a structured financing for an A380 aircraft on lease to Emirates which won Airfinance Journal’s 2017 inaugural China award for best cross-border airline or lessor financing by a Chinese financier.
  • Acting for mandated lead arrangers and lenders on an up to AU$2 billion asset enhanced loan note issuance programme for Qantas and advising on the issuance of the first series of US$350 million Series A notes.
