New hire: Rui Bai Law Firm strengthens its Corporate practice with leading M&A and TMT hire

1 June 2020 - Beijing Rui Bai Law Firm, a licensed PRC law firm and a member of PwC global network of firms, is pleased to announce that Barbara Li is joining the firm as the Head of Corporate, China.

Barbara is a long-term veteran in the China market and she brings a wealth of over two decades’ experience and expertise in advising international and Chinese companies and financial institutions on large scale and complex cross-border transactions. Barbara is dual-qualified in the PRC and England and Wales. She focuses her practice on foreign direct investment, M&A, joint ventures and outbound investment. She has particular interest and expertise in the TMT, FinTech and infrastructure industries, with extensive experience advising on cybersecurity, data privacy, TMT regulatory compliance and development of infrastructure projects.

Barbara joins from international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, where she spearheaded the China TMT and FinTech practices and also had specialism in providing legal support in development and investment in infrastructure projects.  Barbara is widely recognised in the Corporate, M&A, TMT and Fintech categories and is listed as a leading individual by various legal directories including Chambers, Legal 500, Asian Legal Business and IFLR1000.

Barbara will lead the Corporate Practice of Rui Bai and work closely together with Shanghai Xin Bai Law Firm (also a licensed PRC law firm and a member of PwC global network of firms), Tiang & Partners (an independent Hong Kong law firm which is associated with PwC Legal International Pte Ltd, a licensed Foreign Law Practice, in Singapore), and more widely with regional and global offices of PwC network firms.

Barbara graduated from the China University of Law and Political Science with an LL.B. (1989) and an LL.M. (1992), followed by an LL.M from King's College, London University (1997). She is the vice-chair of the Cybersecurity Sub-working Group of the EU Chamber of Commerce and frequently writes and speaks at professional and industrial conferences. Barbara is a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English.
